Portneuf Newborn Photography
FAQ's

How much time should I plan for my hospital session?
Sessions generally run 15-20 minutes.

When should I expect my session?
We will arrive at the hospital and begin conducting sessions at 9:00 a.m.  Your session time will depend on the number of babies in the hospital that day.

What can I do to prepare for my baby's session?
We will visit your room in the morning of the day you are checking out.  Keeping your hospital room warm will make your baby more comfortable during his/her session.  Feeding your baby prior to your session is also helpful.

How many outfits do you photograph my baby wearing and what should my baby wear?
We provide beautiful wraps, hats and headbands for your session.  Many times we see a beautiful little baby in a huge outfit that they just aren't ready to wear and it ends up hiding all the nooks and crannies that make newborn babies so adorable.  If you do choose an outfit, consider a simple design or a cute onesie and select an appropriate size for a newborn.  Remember, too much clothes changing can make a baby cranky.

What if my baby won’t open his/her eyes?
Newborn babies sleep.  A lot! Therefore we don’t expect that your baby’s eyes will be wide open.  In fact, we expect them to sleep.  Sleeping babies make beautiful portraits.

What if my baby cries during the session?
Typically we get some pretty adorable shots between cries.  If not, we have a few tricks up our sleeves that we try.  If we can’t calm him/her, if possible, we’ll come back a bit later after your baby has time to settle down.

What kind of props will you bring?
We have some beautiful wraps, knit hats and headbands.  However, we encourage you to bring anything from home that will make your portrait more meaningful to you.

When will I see my baby’s portraits?
You will be able to view your images online 5-7 days after your baby is photographed.

How do I make sure that my baby is photographed?
We will stop by your room when we make our session rounds to offer you a newborn session.  Of course, you can always text us ahead of time.  208.406.7577

What kind of products do you offer?
Our selection of items span from a single portrait sheet to a CD of images that you can print on your own to photo books and canvas gallery wraps.

How long does it take to get our portraits?
Prints will arrive within 2 weeks, usually closer to a week. Keep in mind that we print our portraits at a professional photography lab that is out of state, so it may take longer than just a few days to get your portraits.   Digital orders (CD's of images) are ready and shipped within seven days, if not sooner.

What are your office hours at the hospital?
We do not have regular office hours at the hospital, but generally arrive at 9:00 am.  If you need to speak with us, but are unable to get someone on the phone, leave us a voice mail or send us a text and someone will return your call on the same day. 208.406.7577
